 에미넴의 본명은 마셜 브루스 매더스 3세 그의 이니셜인 M&M에서 유래되었다고 합니다. 그리고 그를 상징하는 글자는 좌우가 뒤집어진 E자(Ǝ)이기 때문에 그의 앨범 자켓이든 콘서트든 E자는 항상 뒤집어져 있습니다. 에미넴이 처음 음악을 시작할 때에는 지금의 성공가도를 상상하기 힘들정도의 무명시절을 거쳤다고 합니다. 정말 바닥부터 올라온 래퍼라고 하네요. 노래 하나로 확 뜬것이 아니라 점점 이름을 알려가면서 본인도 실력을 향상해간 성장형 가수였다고 합니다.

초기부터 팬이었다면 정말 기쁠 것 같네요. 자신이 사랑하는 사람이 성장하면 왠지 뿌듯한 마음이지 않나요?

 

에미넴의 고질라는 그의 가장 최신곡으로 '갓질라'라고도 불립니다. 굉장히 중의적이고 재미있는 별명입니다. 외국에서도 '갓질라'라는 별명이 있는지 궁금합니다. 가사내용은 랩답게 약간 폭력적이고 은유적인 표현들이 많습니다. 술을 먹은 자신을 표현하는 것 같은데 아주 재미난 가사네요. 이 랩을 들으면 술먹다가 체할 것 같은 기분이 들기도 합니다.
